Which paragraph best summarises the recording?

  1. A.Coral reefs are large structures covering most of the ocean floor and contain few species. They have little economic value, so their decline from warming oceans would not significantly affect human communities or marine biodiversity.
  2. B.Although coral reefs cover a tiny area, they sustain a quarter of marine species and benefit millions of people. Warming seas cause bleaching, and if it continues, most reefs may vanish within decades, harming ecosystems and economies.
  3. C.The talk explains that coral bleaching occurs when too many algae grow inside corals, strengthening them. Warmer oceans are therefore beneficial to reefs, helping them expand and support even greater numbers of marine species.
  4. D.Coral reefs protect coastlines but provide no food or income. The speaker concludes that, despite ocean warming, reefs are resilient and unlikely to change much over the coming decades, so conservation efforts are largely unnecessary.
